On October 17, a delegation led by Le Minh Hoan, minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, paid a visit to the high-tech agricultural farm WinEco Cu Chi. The visit was part of a survey of the agricultural product value chain in Ho Chi Minh City.

WinEco Cu Chi Farm in Ho Chi Minh City is one of 14 farms specialising in producing quality root vegetables, fruits, and leafy vegetables, ensuring food safety and high economic value. The farm is developed by WinEco, a member of Masan Group, in many localities across the country. The farm features greenhouses with Israeli technology, Vietnamese membrane houses, net houses, and field production areas.

The farm produces over 10 crops with an average output of 250-300 tonnes per month, equivalent to nearly 10 per cent of WinEco's total output. The farm's plants include leafy vegetables, spices (perilla, marjoram, basil), fruit and vegetables (star gourd, cucumber, bitter melon), seedless lemon, and cantaloupe.

A representative of WinEco said, "As Vietnam has a population of nearly 100 million people, the demand for clean, traceable food will continue to rise, especially in the big cities. Applying high technology in agricultural production not only helps to increase productivity per unit area but also ensures year-round product supply, including off-season. WinEco strictly complies with VietGAP regulations and controls three processes: input production, production process, and product output. With each product, customers can clearly trace the origin via QR code."

After surveying the process of growing vegetables, fruits, and agricultural products at the project, Minister Hoan called on businesses to build a responsible ecosystem for agriculture and farmers, creating pride for Vietnamese agricultural products and increasing profits. Businesses should also create more opportunities for farmers to join the ecosystem. Farmers are the ones who give the best branding, communication, and advertising for these products. The minister also called on businesses to create solutions for the agricultural sector to promote sustainable development.

In response to Minister Hoan's instructions, the representative of WinEco expressed the company's gratitude. He said that the company is still on the way to increasing productivity, improving costs as well as strengthening linkages and cooperation with agricultural production units nationwide. At the same time, the company also supports farmers in different ways to spread and promote awareness of safe and sustainable agricultural production.

WinEco Agricultural Production Development Investment Co., Ltd. was established in 2015 with a focus on agriculture. After six years of development, it owns 14 farms in the north, south, and the Central Highlands.

Currently, the company supplies about 3000 tonnes of agricultural products per month with over 150 varieties through a system of more than 3,000 supermarkets and WinMart/WinMart+ stores.
